Eight years ago today, Netscape released the Mozilla source. Firefox is successful today thanks to the development and evangelism efforts of hundreds of thousands of people around the globe working together to make something great. I urge journalists to stop and realize how much more fascinating that story is than a personality piece. Congratulations to everyone.

    Blake, i believe most people lack the ability to what that represents, because what you are reporting is not a coordenate effort. Most people dont know each other, and it works better that way than if they did…

    After seeing a similar post by Asa, I was scratching my head trying to recall what exactly the announcement was referring to. Of course! The day Netscape opened their browser code in 98, making it indeed much more interesting than something like the formation of an organization. Thanks Blake, thanks Netscape, and thanks to everyone on the Mozilla team!
